Mental Health Services

Mental Health Services and Crisis Intervention Notification

Wirt County Primary Center and Wirt County Middle School will continue to have on-site therapists this school year from Harmony Mental Health. If you would like to refer your student for therapy services, please speak to a building administrator or the school counselor to initiate a referral. A parent or legal guardian must give written permission for services, provide insurance information if insured, and attend the student’s initial intake appointment. Services will be provided on-site during the school day. No student will be denied services based on their inability to pay.

Harmony therapists will also be available to intervene in the event of a mental health crisis. A mental health crisis is any situation in which a person's behavior puts them at risk of hurting themselves or others and/or prevents them from being able to care for themselves or function effectively in the community. Response to mental health crisis will be limited to de-escalation and safety protocols, and this response does not constitute therapy or establish a therapeutic relationship. Appropriate referrals will be made for mental health services following a crisis.

If you have any questions about these services, please contact your student’s school or Project AWARE Coordinator Jaci Cheeseman at (304) 275-4279.
