2022 Wirt County STEAM Program June 21 - July 28 Tuesdays and Thursdays 12:00 - 2:00 p.m.

Wirt County High School will offer a Summer STEAM program to all current and incoming high school students from June 21st through July 28th. The program will offer opportunities to explore science, technology, engineering, art, and math through engaging hands-on activities led by Mrs. Daugherty and Mrs. Lemley. The program is free to attend for any current WCHS student or incoming freshman.

This year's program will feature the following tentatively scheduled activities:

  • June 21 - Making S'Mores with Solar Ovens
  • June 23 - Create Something! Maker Day
  • June 28 - Creating Virtual Reality Experiences
  • June 30 - Extracting DNA from Fruit
  • July 5 - Explore the 3-D Printers and Glow Forge
  • July 7 - National Guard Rock Wall and Special Guest Presentation
  • July 12 - Light Up Greeting Cards Community Service Activity
  • July 14 - Pillow Case and Cup Designs
  • July 19 - Tie-Dye Pillow Cases
  • July 21 - Unsolved Case Files Logic Game
  • July 26 - Special Guest Presentation - WVU Extension Service
  • July 28 - Creating with Makey Makeys and Spheros

In the Summer of 2021, over 30 students participated in the STEAM program!  This year we are excited to offer several new activities and partner with the WVU-Wirt County Extension Service and the WV Army National Guard.
