Application Information

Applications close May 15th, and spots are limited. You must be able to attend all 4 days.

Students , apply online here!

Selected applicants will be notified in mid-May and provided with an information packet that includes details for the camp, including transportation options.

If there are more applicants than spots for this opportunity, the teachers hosting the program will choose students to participate based on these applications. Students with significant attendance and/or behavior concerns may be ineligible to participate.  All remaining applicants will be placed on a waiting list.

Camp Overview

This 4-day STEAM program will focus on STEAM skills, career exploration, and programming around the current Artemis program. The mission is to design, build, and pitch a sustainable home on the Moon. This camp follows the real-life goals of NASA’s Artemis missions, where humans are preparing to live and work on the lunar surface.

Here are the tentatively planned activities.

Day 1: Mission Launch & Design

  • The Crew: Meet your teammates and form your specialized mission squad.

  • Forces in Space: Discover the physics of how things move when there’s no air and low gravity.

  • Your Identity: Use digital design tools to create a custom Mission Patch for your team.

  • 3D Foundations: Get your first look at TinkerCad to start designing in 3D.

Day 2: The Lunar Blueprint

  • Lunar Survival: Research the Moon’s environment—what do humans need to survive in the freezing dark and boiling sun?

  • Concept Art: Create paintings and drawings of what your future base could look like.

  • The Blueprint: Draw up a professional engineering sketch of your habitat before we start building.

Day 3: Rovers & Robots

  • Rover Pilot Training: Learn to code the RVR+, a high-tech robotic rover.

  • The Challenge: Work with your team to navigate your rover through a tricky lunar obstacle course.

  • 3D Printing: Use 3D modeling to "print" a critical piece of your habitat that can’t be found on Earth.

  • Pro Intel: Talk to a special guest speaker who actually works in the space industry!

Day 4: Construction & Final Pitch

  • The Build: Use engineering kits and building materials to turn your blueprints into a 3D model.

  • The Grand Finale: Complete one last "Extreme Rover Challenge."

  • The Pitch: Present your habitat design to the rest of the crew and show how your team solved the mysteries of living on the Moon.
