Parents/Caregivers of WCHS Students:
Your student is bringing home information regarding a training that will be provided to all students on depression and suicide. It is state mandated that schools provide students the opportunity to discuss suicide prevention awareness.
Training will be provided by staff members who have been certified in SOS - Signs of Suicide. This program encourages students to seek help when needed for themselves or a friend and who they can turn to.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mrs. Smith at the high school.

Updated Parade Time! Our Homecoming Parade is growing so we need a little more time. The WCHS Homecoming Parade will start at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 4th.
Organizations and businesses are invited to register for the parade. Registration is due by October 2nd! Please register online at https://bit.ly/2024-WCHS-Homecoming-Parade. Here are some rules to keep in mind for this year's parade: Line-up and pictures will begin at 12:30 p.m. and the parade will begin at 2:00 p.m. We do not allow political or religious groups in the parade. Parade floats, banners, advertisements, etc. must be positive in nature. Any trailer/float with children on it MUST have at least one adult who is on the trailer/float at all times with the kids. Wirt County High School staff reserve the right to deny entry to parade lineup if any of the guidelines are not followed.
9th and 10th graders received permission slips to attend the GEAR UP Student Leadership Academy on Oct. 9 and a Health Career Expo (for those interested in a future career in healthcare) on Oct. 17. Permission slips need returned by next Monday!

WCHS Student Council is planning a Trivia Night this Saturday, September 21 in the cafeteria. Teams of 2-5 may sign up using the QR code. Please register by 3:30 pm on Thursday, 9/19. If we do not receive more registrations by this time, the event will have to be postponed due to low participation.
WCHS invites parents to attend the 1st LSIC of the year. LSIC is the Local School Improvement Council and is made up of students, parents, and teachers. They work together to help improve the school. If you are interested, please call the school and let Mrs. Smith know.
The 1st meeting is Friday, 9/18/24 at 11:15 am - 12 Noon. Lunch will be provided.
