We are excited for Week 4 of STEAM! Tuesday from 12:30 - 2:30 will be a Maker Day. Students are invited to create with the Circuts, explore with Micro:bits, create 3-D prints, use the sublimation printer, and more! Thursday from 12:30 - 2:30 is our Escape Room Day. Students will work together to solve a cold case file, then put their teamwork to the test in an escape room! Students should report to Mrs. Lemley's room at WCHS for both sessions.

STEAM will only be on Thursday this week at Wirt County High School due to the holiday. We hope you have a fantastic 4th of July! We will see you on Thursday from 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. in Mrs. Lemley's room for VR goggles and 3-D printing. Lunch will be available at the high school at 12:00 p.m.

Week 2 of STEAM will feature Sphero Battlebots on Tuesday and Creating Your Own Wind Turbines on Thursday. both sessions will be at the Middle School. Tuesday will be 12:30-2:30. On Thursday we will have a special guest speaker from STEAMTAC so our session will be longer, 12:30 - 3:30. All middle and high school students can attend!


Tomorrow is the first day of STEAM! We will be at the MIDDLE SCHOOL and the session starts at 12:30 p.m. Students may report directly to the middle school front entrance at 12:30 or meet Mrs. Daugherty and Mrs. Lemley at WCHS in Mrs. Lemley's room by 12:15 to walk to the middle school. High School students should be picked up at the middle school at 2:30 p.m.
We will be making solar ovens to cook s'mores and building parachutes to lift weight in wind tunnels. Don't forget to bring non-perishable items for The Hope Shop.


As a reminder, this year we are incorporating a service project into Summer School and STEAM. We will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Hope Shop. The student that brings in the most non-perishable items throughout the summer will receive a $10 Amazon Gift Card! Summer program teachers will be keeping a tally for students.

Parents and students, this is a reminder that our Wellness Field Day is tomorrow, Wednesday, May 23rd. Students will arrive at school and report to first period as normal. Then we will dismiss students to their activity stations. Here are a few reminders for tomorrow.
- All students should dress comfortably and wear closed-toed shoes. Everyone will be outside at the park in the afternoon.
- BIKING STATION - If you signed up for biking, we have helmets available but feel free to bring your own.
- HIKING STATION - You will be hiking for approximately two miles. Wear comfortable shoes and consider bringing a small bag for snacks and water.
- FISHING STATION - Students must remove all hooks from fishing gear prior to transporting it on the bus. All hooks must be enclosed in a tacklebox or similar container. If students are 15 or older, they must have a valid fishing license or they will not be permitted to fish. Students who are fishing will be transported by bus to the County Poor Farm then back to the park for lunch.
-TIE-DYING STATION - Please remember to bring items to tie-dye and wear old clothes!
- KAYAKING (Afternoon-only activity) - All students with permission slips can kayak if they would like. Students who are planning to kayak should bring a life vest if possible. We will have a few spares. We will have kayaks available.
We ask that if your child will need to sign out during the day, please send a note to school in the morning to let us know what time. Please try to limit signing out to before 11:00 a.m. or after 3:00 p.m.

Seniors need to repaint their parking spots ASAP in order to receive their $30 deposit back. The owners of all parking spots repainted by the end of the day on May 12th will receive their $30 deposit back on May 19th. If students choose not to repaint their spot black, they will forfeit their deposit.

Tonight's Sectional Baseball game against Calhoun County has been relocated to Wirt County at 5:00 PM. Due to the last minute change of venue, there will be no concessions this evening.
Reminder: This is a sectional event so no school or senior citizens passes will be accepted.
