8th grade dance will be Saturday, May 3.
8th grade trip to Kings Island is scheduled for Thursday, May 15.
Awards Day will be Thursday, May 22nd. Awards will be in the morning. Time TBD.
Wellness Day will be Thursday, May 22nd after awards.
IMPORTANT DATES!
Testing season will be upon us soon after Spring Break. Please plan accordingly and make sure your students are at school on testing days!
April 30 - All 5th and 8th graders will take state science test
May 6 -7 - ALL students in ALL grades take ELA tests
May 13 - ALL students in ALL grades take Math test

We are so proud of 6th grader, Ellie Casenelli, who won 3rd place in the West Virginia State Young Writers Contest! Congratulations!
Wirt County Middle School was proud to partner with the Elizabeth Volunteer Fire Department to donate nearly $500 of cleaning supplies that will be delivered to victims of flooding in southern West Virginia!
Just a reminder that Spring Pictures are Thursday, March 20th at WCMS. If you wish to have your child get their picture taken, please tell them. We do not make every student get these pictures. Pictures will be taken in the morning.
We are ready to celebrate student success with our bowling and skating trips tomorrow! 📢 Before we leave, ALL STUDENTS will be walking to the firehouse to drop off supplies we collected for the donation drive. Please make sure students are on time to school so they dont miss the drop off! We will be outside for approximately 30 minutes, so make sure students dress warmly tomorrow!
Here are a few reminders for students attending the trips:
⚫️ There will be concessions available at both locations tomorrow. We are taking school lunch for everyone!
⚫️ All students going on both trips need to wear socks! Students who are skating should wear tall socks if possible.
⚫️ Students who are bowling will also be allowed to play games in the arcade.
⚫️ Students will be allowed to have their cell phones on the trip but must use them responsibly!
⚫️ All trips should return to the school by 2:15 p.m.
🍀7th graders are bringing home information about a cross-curricular parent involvement activity today! We ask that parents and guardians complete these activities with your students this week. This activity will ask parents and students to work together to:

🟢Follow the STEM project guidelines to create a leprechaun trap (https://5il.co/3ap4g)
🟢Have your student use the math skills they've been practicing in class to calculate the cost of a special treat (see detailed info in the parent letter).

Tomorrow is the LAST day to turn in permission forms for the March 18th PBIS Reward trip. We still have several students missing forms. Students must turn in their permission form and their $3.00/cleaning supply donation first thing in the morning near the main office.
Permission forms for the March 18th WCMS PBIS Rewards Trips went home today with students. Forms are due back by March 12th! 7th/8th graders will choose from bowling or roller skating and 5th/6th graders will be roller skating.
COST: To help those in the southern part of our state affected by recent flooding, we are collecting cleaning supplies. To participate in the trip, students are asked to donate ONE cleaning item or contribute $3 to be donated to the Wirt Volunteer Fire Department to purchase cleaning supplies. We will be attaching positive, encouraging messages to the supplies before they are sent to those in need.
The 5th grade popcorn and cotton candy orders will be at school on Monday! Just a reminder students need to pick up their orders and deliver them.
Our students spent January and February reviewing our school wide expectations during their advisory classes. Students then worked collaboratively to create images and videos showcasing positive behaviors and expectations. A winner from each grade was chosen and we want to share those with parents! We encourage parents to ask your child about the WCMS ROCKS expectations and what it means to them while giving your child a chance to earn LiveSchool points!
This weeks featured winner is Mrs. Romage's 5th grade class.

8th Graders interested in Cheer at WCHS next year, here is a fantastic opportunity! On March 21st, WCHS is hosting early Cheerleading sign-ups. During the event, parents and students can meet the coach and find out what to expect for the upcoming year. For more information you can contact coach Megan Bunner or call WCHS.
5th Grade Popcorn & Cotton Candy Fundraiser orders will be here Monday, March 10th! Students need to pick up their orders and deliver them.
Ski trip kiddos should return around 7:30 PM. Please pick up students in the front loop. We will update when we get to Glenville.
Our WCMS FBLA students participated in Read Across America Week by reading to students at the Primary Center.
