🎉 Happy National PTO Appreciation Day! 🎉
Today, we pause to recognize and celebrate the incredible dedication of our PTO and volunteers who make a lasting impact on our school community every single day.
From organizing events and fundraising efforts to supporting classrooms and enriching student experiences, your time, energy, and love for our school do not go unnoticed. You are the heart of our school, and your efforts help create a nurturing and vibrant environment where our students can thrive.
Thank you for being champions of education, partners in learning, and true heroes behind the scenes.
We are deeply grateful for everything you do...Book Fairs, Penny Wars, Country Stores and more! Your support makes a difference, and we are lucky to have you as part of our school family.
With appreciation,
The Wirt County Primary Center Staff & Administrators

With nearly 30 years in education, Mrs. McKown has spent the last 17 shaping young minds at Wirt County Primary Center. Her love for helping students grow—especially in reading and math—makes her a true gem in our school community! Please read the highlight to learn more about one of our veteran teachers.

Items are subject to change, and supper is also served.
Our next Local School Improvement Council (LSIC) meeting will be held next Tuesday after school. All members of our school community are welcome and encouraged to attend!
What is the LSIC?
The LSIC plays a vital role in shaping the success of our school. According to the West Virginia Department of Education:
“Local School Improvement Councils (LSIC) are required per W.Va. Code § 18-5A-2. These councils exist at each public school in West Virginia. Membership includes teachers, service personnel, bus drivers, parents, and business/community representatives. LSICs are directly involved in the operation of the school in many ways.”
What does the LSIC do?
Reviews discipline data and procedures annually
Submits recommendations to the local school board
Encourages community involvement in school operations
Supports strategic planning and school improvement initiatives
Engages in dialogue with the school board about academic performance
Offers suggestions to improve areas such as:
Parent and community involvement
Student engagement and attendance
Learning environment and behavior supports
Curricular offerings and school resources
This is a great opportunity for everyone to learn more, share ideas, and help make a difference in our school!

📅 Why We’re Fundraising:
Proceeds will help fund classroom activities and our end-of-year field trip — creating lasting memories for our 3rd graders!
📝 How It Works:
3rd grade students will use a ticket log to record sales (tickets will NOT be sent home to sell).
Buyers’ names, phone numbers, ticket quantity, and payment method will be logged.
Students will return the log and money to school daily to ensure tickets are available. Their teacher will collect money and fill out the purchased tickets and send the ticket stubs back home.
🎯 Our Goal:
Each student is encouraged to sell at least 15 tickets — but more is always welcome!
🙌 Thank you for supporting our students and helping make this school year unforgettable! For questions, please contact a 3rd grade teacher.
Let’s make this fundraiser a HUGE success, Wirt County! 💪🎟️

We need your help keeping our gym clean, safe, and ready for action each morning! Lately, we’ve had a few too many spills from cups that have straws but no secured lids — and while we love a good splash in the pool, puddles on the gym floor are a no-go! 😅
Cleaning and drying the floor takes time away from our first gym class of the day, and we want every student to start their morning with movement, not mops.
If you are sending your child to school with a full cup, please make sure that it has a secure, spill-proof lid — not just a straw poking out. The cup in the photo is a great example of what NOT to send. We appreciate your help in keeping our gym safe and slip-free for all our students!
Thanks so much for your support and for helping us keep the gym rolling smoothly! 💪✨
