Steps to Become a Volunteer
1. Complete a Volunteer Application Form.
Complete the volunteer application by clicking the button below. Once you have completed the application, please return it to your school's principal.
Each year, you need to complete a new form and submit it to the office of the school in which you wish to volunteer. If you wish to volunteer in more than one school, please mark the appropriate boxes on the form. The principal from the school where you submit the form will pass it on to the next principal after he or she has signed it.
You can download an application form by using the link at the bottom of the page or going to the Wirt County Board of Education website. Paper copies of the form can be obtained at your child's school office.
2. Complete the volunteer training modules.
3. Complete the Volunteer Training Quiz
4. Approval by the Board of Education
Once you have successfully completed volunteer training, your volunteer application will be sent to the Board of Education for final approval. Once approved you may begin volunteering.

Parent’s Right to Know
As a parent/guardian of a student in Wirt County Schools, you have the right to know the professional qualifications of the classroom teachers who instruct your child. Federal law allows you to ask for certain information about your child’s classroom teachers and requires us to give you this information in a timely manner if you request it. Specifically, you have the right to ask for the following information about each of your child’s classroom teachers:
Whether the teacher has met state qualifications and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction
Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or other provisional status because of special circumstances
Whether the teacher is teaching the field of discipline of the certification or degree he/she received
Whether the paraprofessionals provide services to your child and, if so, their qualifications.
